Spies and Viruses:

Spies infect most machines, slowing them down, and affect computer speed and productivity.

Spies get into a machine during normal use, generally while surfing the web.

Viruses, worms and Trojans enter a computer via the internet, email or software that is inserted into a drive.

The best way to fight spies and viruses is proactively, before they strike.

Spies (at this time) don't try to spread to other machines, where Viruses, worms and trojans like to duplicate themselves whenever possible.

Spies generaly record and sometimes pass on valuable data, run in the background and slow machines down.

Viruses are generally more severe, sometimes damaging computer files, or making it 'look-like' they are missing, when they are not.

There are several layers of protection against spies and viruses, however once a machine is infected, spies and viruses need to be removed.

Generally, computer data (pictures, documents, etc) can be saved and backed up.

In severe cases the computer needs to be erased, the OS (operating system) reinstalled, programs reinstalled and data placed back on the computer.

Keeping Antivirus software 'current' and using a hardware router with firewall helps keep spies, trojans and worms out.

Viruses are created and run rampant on the web daily, it is unfortunate, but a reality. Protection is best, but sometimes removal is necessary.

There are ways that 'you' can check/confirm to see if your machine is clean.
